Painting & decorating advice (woody I’m looking at you)
|
I have painted floors and need to go over bits again where the paint has been scraped off.
I’ve still got the original paint that I used to paint the floors but it’s got a manky brown oily layer of liquid on top of it.
Would I be ok to just scoop this stuff off the top and then use the paint? They’ve discontinued this colour otherwise I’d just buy more.
Cheers

Do yourself a favour and buy bedec paint the stuffs the bollocks. Out of all paint including dulux who spend a bomb investing in state of the art laboratories with teams of paint scientists bedec pisses all over that lot. It's run from a barn in Braintree by four blokes.Their paints pisses all over anything else.

Why are you painting the floor?

I was thinking that would be likely to be the case. I have a tendency to jump straight into things and fuck them up so I was being cautious for a change

Where CAN this oily layer have come from?
My guess is from the paint itself, in which case the "stir it back in" advice looks sound.
Much more interesting is where bruuuuno thinks it comes from, and why this means the advice isn't obvious...

As already mentioned, just give it a very good stir.Over time paint will separate and leave the oil on the top which just needs to be stirred back in.

Wipe your knob across the floor first and the paint should be good to go as is

As always on this site, " just stir it with your knob"

You just need to give it a good stir.
